Ishq-e-waada nibaah ka..jazbaa unhe hai ab...
Mere Mijaaz-e-dil ki parwaah....unhe hai ab..

Mujhse baat karne ki..zaroorat hi kya rahi...
Mere Haal-o-Chaal ka..pataa unhe hai ab...

Ab to itaraa rahe hain..unke zulm-o-karam sabhi..
Sahme Sahme..Khuda ki..Razaa unhe hai ab...

Ek Daur ki jubaan hai..Ek Umr Ka Bayaan hai..
Apne shauq-e-Husn ka..Rutbaa unhe hai ab..

Mujhe Saamne ko Paakar..Jo chupp woh kahin rahe..
Unke Gurror-e-had ki...intehaan unhe hai ab...

Un Raaston ki Mehfilein..Un Faaslon ke kaarwan..
Us Sukoon-e-Justju ka...Armaan unhe hai ab...

Suroor-e-lafz "Niraj"..Ab tum mein Na raha...
Rang-e-Aashiqui ko..Duniya unhe hai ab...

  3. Geeta: Didnt understand the last 3 verses :(
The comments here are even more puzzling!!?! And I wouldn't have believed that "sar khapana" was a Ghalib term; I thought it was pure mumbaiyya!

  4. This is based on a situation when one feels regretful of not choosing a "LIFE/LOVE" which was needed/wanted due to circumstances beyond one's control.
It states the agony of the lover on the other side. The other person cant blame the lover, circumstances and even himself.
Its the tussle that goes into both of them's mind and the conversation which is inhibited, painful and yet endearing. It also states the ego clashes and anger towards the circumstances and pride in one's love.

  5. Geeta: You mean to say that it describes a situation where one party has realised too late the mistake s/he has made in not choosing the other as life partner?

  6. Yes.. In a way... but that realisation is visible to the other party... (the teller of the story/poem)...
